Kruise Leeming could be tempted to join either of these Super League teams in 2024

Sky Sports presenter and Super League reporter Jenna Brooks has named two potential teams she believes Kruise Leeming could join in Super League if he is to return in 2024.

Leeming, 27, has joined Gold Coast Titans in the NRL on a deal until the end of 2023, having requested a release from Leeds Rhinos in March.

The hooker landed Down Under earlier this week to link up with his new side under Super League winning coach Justin Holbrook.

Brooks reported that Leeming’s preference is to remain in the NRL competition for 2024. But, if he is to return to Super League next year, she believes he could link up with either Catalans or St Helens.

Catalans or St Helens?

In France, starting hooker Michael McIlorum signed a one-year extension with the Dragons for the 2023 campaign, having turned 35 in January.

He represented England at last year’s World Cup on home soil, with his future yet confirmed.

Meanwhile, St Helens legend and number nine James Roby signed a one-year extension for 2023 and admitted it will be his last in his professional career, completing 20 seasons, while he flirted with the idea of retirement in 2022.

St Helens brought in ex-Salford and NRL hooker Joey Lussick ahead of 2022, who could replace Super League’s all-time appearance holder in Roby.

But it could leave a potential spot for Leeming, who has made 170 appearances in the competition.

More on Kruise Leeming

A product of Huddersfield’s academy, Leeming made his professional debut with the club in 2013 against Warrington.

He enjoyed seven seasons at the John Smith’s Stadium before joining Leeds in 2020, winning the Challenge Cup in his first year over Salford at Wembley.

He captained the side in 2022, and had previously signed a contract extension until the end of 2024 in March 2021.

Rhinos boss Rohan Smith confirmed that Leeming had requested a release from Headingley Stadium following their defeat to Castleford, having not been named for the Super League Round Five fixture.
