Free nets sessions for female cricketers in Bolton

Cricket Point Bolton opened its doors more than two years ago, but organisers say 97 per cent of players attending have been male.

Now they want to encourage more females to take part by offering a new free nets session each weekend.

Managing directors, Abdullah Ishaq and Suhail Mirza, said: “While the town boasts a plethora of cricket clubs, there is a noticeable absence of women’s teams.

“Cricket Point Bolton aims to address this disparity by introducing free training sessions tailored exclusively for women and girls.

“Our objective is clear: provide a welcoming space for skill development, foster confidence, and create opportunities for female players to connect with one another.”

Cricket Point’s new nets for females take place every Saturday from 5-6 pm at their state-of-the-art indoor cricket centre in Farnworth.

The sessions are designed not only to enhance cricketing abilities but also to serve as a hub for like-minded individuals who share a passion for the game.

The hope is women and girls will not only develop their cricket skills but also gain the confidence to consider joining a local club. By creating a supportive community, Cricket Point Bolton aspires to contribute significantly to the growth of women’s cricket in Bolton.
