Chelsea extend long-term contracts for Enzo Fernandez and Mykhailo Mudryk into their thirties

Chelsea have exercised options to extend Enzo Fernandez and Mykhailo Mudryk’s long contracts into their 30s.

FA documents have revealed Fernandez has eight years left on his £180,000-a-week deal which runs until 2032, while Mudryk has seven years on his £97,000-a-week deal until 2031.

Fernandez will be 31 when he contract expires and Mudryk will be 30 at the end of his.

Chelsea signed Fernandez in a £106.8million deal from Benfica in January 2023, the same window Mudryk joined for £88.5m from Shakhtar Donetsk

It is unclear why Chelsea exercised options to extend their deals with so much time still to run on them.

Lewis Hall also had his contract extended last season but joined Newcastle on a season-long loan deal and that deal will be made permanent for £28m this summer.

The FA released data on Fernandez, Mudryk and Hall as part of their annual agent payments report last week.

That report also showed Chelsea paid a record £75.1m on agent’s fees over the 12-month period to February 2024

Manchester City shelled out £60.6m, having topped the charts last year with a £51.5m outlay.

Manchester United were the next highest at £34m, followed by Liverpool’s £31.5m and Arsenal’s £24.7m.

Chelsea FC Holdings Ltd last week published their accounts, which showed the club made a pre-tax loss of £91.1m for 2022-2023.

Chelsea made loses of £121.4m in 2021-22 but insist they will remain compliant with Premier League profit and sustainability rules.
