WHITEHAVEN Rugby League has announced that Huw Worthington will remain at The Ortus Rec for the remainder of the 2024 Betfred Championship season.

Having initially signed on a month’s trial Welsh international Worthington has impressed on all three appearances coming off the bench and will now remain in Chocolate, Blue, and Gold until the end of the season.

Speaking at training on Thursday evening head coach Jonty Gorley said “It’s great news for us, he’s the type of player I like, he is no nonsense and has got a fantastic engine on him.

“He played against Featherstone, and I nearly rang him that night, but I thought no give him an extra week to get him to know the lads better. We played the week after and again he was good.

“I phoned him after the York game, and he wasn’t expecting to talk about it until the end of the month, but we needed to get him sorted and gladly he accepted, and he will be with us until the end of the season.”
