TWENTY-ONE junior teams participated in the recent Woolston Rovers Rugby League Festival.

Sides in the age groups from under sevens to under 12s gathered from across Warrington and neighbouring towns and cities.

Lots of sportsmanship was on show and a rematch is said to be pending after Woolston Rovers Greens and Woolston Rovers Golds drew their under 11s match after a hard-fought battle.

“There is nothing like some in-house rivalry,” it says in the contributed report.

“The rugby festival was a brilliant success, the day ran smoothly and the sun shone.”

To finish the event, a clash took place between some of the Woolston Rovers coaches and parents – the Wes Lawton All Stars versus the Dave Jones All Stars.

Wes coaches the Woolston Rovers under 11 Greens and Dave coaches the club’s under 12s and it was the latter whose team came out on top.

Participating teams in the festival:

Under sevens: Woolston Rovers, Blackbrook, Latchford, Crosfields

Under eights: Woolston Rovers Greens, Langworthy

Under nines: Woolston Rovers, Blackbrook, Crosfields

Under 10s: Woolston Rovers, Crosfields, Rylands, Latchford

Under 11s: Woolston Rovers Greens, Woolston Rovers Golds, Leigh East, Bank Quay

Under 12s: Woolston Rovers , Newton Storm, Liverpool Lions, Folly Lane
