Brodie Croft has explained the decision behind his new historic long-term contract with Salford that will keep him with the club until 2030.

Croft, 25, was in his final season of his initial two-year contract with the Super League outfit. However, the Red Devils have made history by signing the playmaker up to the longest-ever Super League deal.

In his debut season in England, Croft was involved in a total of 32 tries and went on to be rewarded with the Man of Steel award at the end of the year. He was also named in the Super League Dream Team alongside team-mates Ken Sio and Tim Lafai.

The Australian half-back began his career in the NRL, making his debut in 2016 for Melbourne Storm. He went on to join Brisbane, featuring across two seasons before taking the decision to continue his career in England after a turbulent NRL stint.

His impressive first year in England had seen him linked with a move away from Salford. However, head coach Paul Rowley has managed to tie down his star man, the beginning a new legacy.

“It’s truly exciting for me and my family,” Croft told Salford Red Devils.

“I loved last year so much and, to be honest, I didn’t want last year to end.

“Coming to this year knowing that I’ve got a future here at this club; The club believe in me and I believe in this club and what we are capable of doing. That excites me a lot.

“Knowing that this club wants me to be a part of this future. I love the boys and I love this club.”

As Jackson Hastings did back upon his arrival in 2018, Croft also established himself a fan favourite early on in his Salford career.

His incredible efforts saw him also receive the Coach’s Player, the Player’s Player and the Supporter’s Player of the Year awards at the club’s end of year presentation.

The talented half-back has since paid tribute to the Salford supporters following his new deal.

“The fans have been enormous,” Croft continued.

“They’ve given me a lot of confidence when I’m out on that field and all the boys, we thrive off the fans.

“I remember the first away game at Castleford, there was a huge turnout. Then I think back to the last game I played in, the semi-final against Huddersfield, and it was another huge turnout.

“There’s nothing better than playing at home here. When the fans start chanting the team songs, the boys really rally behind it and it really gets us going.”

Croft also shared how his family played a major part behind the decision, including his England-born partner.

“They had a massive influence on my decision,” Croft said on his family.

“A lot of my decision was based around my family. It gave me a lot of confidence that my partner is very happy with this decision.

“It gives us a lot of stability knowing that this club wants me to be a big part of their future.”
