Conditions set fair for Glamorous Breeze

17:00 Windsor: Sky Sports Racing Sky 415 Handicap

Glamorous Breeze thrives under these conditions, as her three career wins have all been achieved over five furlongs on good-to-firm ground, with all three coming under today’s rider, William Cox.

This five-year-old mare has been beaten by only one rival from the last three occasions she has raced over the minimum trip on this surface, all of which were in today’s grade.

She returns to Windsor for the first time since finishing third of 12 in stronger company last September, and with the aid of her favoured fast ground for the first time since her last win in August last year, she looks poised to get off the mark for the season. Suggested bet: Glamourous Breeze to win the 17:00 at Windsor

It looked significant that she was heavily-backed in to clear favourite for an 11-runner Class 3 handicap at Ascot earlier this month before she got upset in stalls, rearing up just before the start, and then spoiling her chance with a slow exit. The market support she received that day was more than enough to suggest she is in good form, so a drop in grade and a return to this her preferred trip off a three pounds lower mark should be enough to see her take advantage, with the inside draw being ideal provided she breaks on terms this time. Today’s rider, who didn’t partner her last time, knows her better than anyone, so she is in the right hands to get the job done. Next best bet: Antiphon to win the 17:00 at Windsor Of the others, Antiphon comes here to defend his unbeaten course-and-distance record after beating a combined 12 rivals in his two wins over this trip. The first of them came in good-firm conditions and he subsequently won a Class 4 handicap on similar ground at Brighton, so he is very much at home under these conditions, while top track jockey Tom Marquand looks a significant booking on his first ride for this training team.
