Dupont and Ntamack SKIMBOARD Bouclier de Brennus : PlanetRugby

The celebrations have continued for Toulouse after their Top 14 title success as they have now taken the famous Bouclier de Brennus to the beach.

Playmaking duo Antoine Dupont and Romain Ntamack have been filmed attempting to skimboard the trophy in shallow water as they savour the triumph.

In past seasons, victorious French teams have been seen sliding on the Bouclier de Brennus in their changing rooms as well as other forms of celebrating.

Surfing the trophy

But this we believe is the first time we have seen the silverware being used as a skimboard as the crucial France duo showed off their skills on the beach.

First we see scrum-half Dupont sliding the Bouclier de Brennus out in front of him before jumping on it and riding the ensuing wave before falling off.

Then it was the turn of half-back partner Ntamack, who posted his video on Instagram, as he joined Dupont in attempting to skimboard the first wave.

Twitter’s reaction to the footage has largely been positive but as one person noted: “That trophy has taken some punishment!” That’s a fair assessment.

Another tweet read: “Am I the only one that finds that maybe a ssssssmidgen disrespectful….?” Let’s just hope that there’s been no lasting damage done.

Ntamack was the hero for Toulouse against La Rochelle last Saturday as he scored a 60-metre wonder try to secure a 29-26 success in the Top 14 final.

La Rochelle looked on course to seal a first Bouclier de Brennus as they led 26-22 in the closing five minutes of the match before Ntamack raced over.

Toulouse delight

It has since been one massive party for Toulouse which began in the changing room where French president Emmanuel Macron downed a bottle of beer.

After the celebrations are over, Dupont and Ntamack will then turn their attention to France duty as a home Rugby World Cup tournament looms large.
