Gold Coast Titans announce immediate signing

Gold Coast Titans have announced the immediate signing of winger Ken Maumalo from Wests Tigers for 2023 and beyond.

The 28-year-old has been granted an early release from Wests Tigers to make the move.

The former New Zealand international and Dally M winger of the year signs on a contract until the end of 2025.

“We’ve had a couple of roster spots left and we identified that we wanted to fill one of those with an experienced outside-back who can add real value to our team,” said head coach Justin Holbrook.

“Ken knows what it takes to perform at NRL level and we think he will be a great addition to our roster.

“We’ve got some wonderful young local players like Jojo Fifita and Alofiana Khan-Pereira who have already shown their potential, but having someone of Ken’s experience will no doubt help with their development as well.”

Gold Coast Titans release centre

The Titans have also announced the immediate release of centre Patrick Herbert by mutual consent.

Herbert, who was contracted for the 2023 season, will be released on compassionate grounds.

The 26-year-old played 38 games for the Gold Coast club over the past two seasons.

Elsewhere in the NRL, Manly Sea Eagles have extended the contract of winger Christian Tuipulotu for a further season.

Tuipulotu, 22, signed until the end of 2024, with the new upgrade now extending his deal until the end of 2025.

He has scored 11 tries in 22 games for Manly since making his club debut against Parramatta in 2021. He made his official NRL debut in 2020 with the Sydney Roosters.

Manly Coach Anthony Seibold said: “Christian is now 20 plus games into his NRL career. One of the things I like about ‘CT’ is he is a really coachable guy who works really hard on his game.

“I feel like he is only going to continue to get better over the next couple of years.

“By extending Christian out for a year, I feel it gives him and the club time to reach his potential.”
