Italy trio Fischetti, Ferrari and Cannone set to face Barbarians : PlanetRugby

Italy stars Danilo Fischetti, Simone Ferrari and Lorenzo Cannone are being “lined up” by World XV boss Steve Hansen to play against the Barbarians.

The match will take place at Twickenham on Sunday, May 28, with the Barbarians being coached by former England and now Australia head coach Eddie Jones.

Fischetti dependent on London Irish commitments

Fischetti‘s inclusion is contingent on his London Irish commitments but the trio’s possible involvement would be exciting following their fine Six Nations form.

Cannone in particular caught the eye in the recent Championship as he impressed at number eight, with his carrying causing opposition sides plenty of issues.

Meanwhile, loosehead prop Fischetti and tighthead prop Ferrari are two tough front-row options who will only add to Hansen’s engine room at Twickenham.

World XV side looking more impressive by the week

If picked the Italy stars would link up with Ngani Laumape, Nick Phipps, Marika Koroibete, Semi Radradra and Joe Launchbury in Hansen’s World XV team.

They would go up against the likes of Danny Care, Dan Cole, Joe Marler, Jonny May, Jack Nowell, Sam Simmonds (all England), Alun Wyn Jones, Rhys Webb, Taulupe Faletau (all Wales) and South Africa centre André Esterhuizen, who have been confirmed as Barbarians players for the blockbuster fixture in London.

“Traditionally, you want a Barbarians game to be open and flowing, and a World XV game is the same,” said ex-All Blacks coach and World Cup winner Hansen.

“This event gets you a combination of both those teams – and both coaches will treat it with the respect that it deserves.”

Hansen keen to implement fun in World XV camp

“Whilst both sides will have a little bit of fun during the week, come Saturday they will have the freedom to express themselves and pour it out on the park.

“I’m sure we’ll see a wonderfully high-skilled spectacle that hopefully people will come along and really, really enjoy.”

General admission tickets for the Barbarians v World XV are on sale now from ticketmaster at the early-bird price of just £25* for Adults and £15* for U16s.
