Manchester United have agreed a £60 million deal to sign Mason Mount from Chelsea, with the England international poised to end his 16-year relationship at Stamford Bridge.
Talks resumed between the two rival Premier League clubs on Wednesday after Chelsea had previously rejected three offers from United, but a breakthrough was reached on Thursday when a third improved offer was submitted.
Chelsea last week rejected a third £50 million, plus £5 million in add-ons, bid for Mount from United and suggested a face-to-face meeting over the situation as they countered the offer with a demand for £65 million.
But the Old Trafford club were willing to negotiate around the structure and finer points of their £55 million bid and Telegraph Sport understands an agreement has been reached that will see the 24-year-old join Erik ten Hag’s squad, subject to an agreement on personal terms and a completed medical.
