Stade Francais flanker Marcos Kremer was shown a red card just five minutes into their Top 14 quarter-final with Racing 92 after making a dangerous clearout.

The Argentina international could have few complaints for being given his marching orders after he made contact with Finn Russell’s head at an early ruck.

Russell departed the action for a HIA and thankfully returned to the knockout game as Racing 92 ran out 33-20 winners at Stade Jean Bouin on Saturday.

The red card ultimately cost Stade Francais any chance of progressing to the Top 14 semi-finals as it is Racing 92 who make it to the last four next weekend.

After Kremer‘s card, there were scores for Racing 92 from Juan Imhoff, Wenceslas Lauret and Gael Fickou, with Sekou Macalou crossing for Stade Francais.

But the big story of course was Kremer’s early sending off, with journalist Paul Eddison revealing it was the Puma’s third red card in 16 starts this season.

As mentioned, Russell continued after passing his HIA and slotted four penalties and one conversion while Antoine Gibert kicked four points for Racing.

For the hosts, Macalou’s 33rd minute score was backed up by a penalty try on the stroke of half-time, with Joris Segonds kicking eight points off the tee.

The game was also France legend Morgan Parra’s final outing and he received a warm farewell at full-time as he brings the curtain down on a great career.

The second semi-final of this season’s Top 14 takes place on Sunday between Lyon and Bordeaux-Begles, with Toulouse and La Rochelle on a rest weekend.
