The popularity of cricket continues to soar as the Cornwall Cricket Board’s summer programme has received over 1000 registrations in the first month alone.

It caters to children aged 5 to 11 regardless of their skill level.

Collaborating with 39 cricket clubs across the county, the board is confidently delivering the ‘All Stars’ and ‘Dynamos Cricket’ programmes, providing a unique opportunity for budding cricketers to immerse themselves in the sport.

Commencing in April, this summer’s programme has seen an encouraging initial turnout, and those interested are urged to register in order to avoid missing out.

Recognising the importance of access for all irrespective of financial circumstances, the board also supports low-income families with a special programme ensuring the game of cricket is equally enjoyable for everyone.

Catering for 5 to 8-year-olds, All Stars Cricket offers a fantastic and affordable £30 eight-week programme, where children can experience their first taste of the sport.

As an introductory scheme, it is focussed on ensuring kids enjoy themselves while learning new skills and making friends.

On the other hand, Dynamos Cricket, at a fee of £40 per child, targets children aged 8 to 11 and aims to further develop cricketing skills in those moving on from All Stars.

Along with their personalised new cricket t-shirt, participants are guaranteed to build on their cricketing knowledge.

Christopher Anderson, school and club development officer for Cornwall Cricket Board, said: “To breach the 1000 children signing up to All Stars and Dynamos in Cornwall – especially in such a short space of time – is really wonderful!

“However, there are still many places available to sign up and have a summer filled with cricket fun around the county!

“Check out All Stars cricket or Dynamos cricket and pop in your postcode to ‘catch’ your nearest and most appropriate programme!”

Those who are interested in helping the cause can visit the Cornwall Cricket Board website to sign up, inquire about subsidised places for lower-income families, or learn more about possibilities for sponsorship and fundraising.

The initiative offers children aged 5 and upwards, as well as adults, the chance to experience the joy of cricket across the county, further fuelling the popularity of the sport.
