St Andrews U19s are through to finals day after 60-run win

Taunton St Andrews Under 19s are through to Finals Day of the South West Under 19 club T20  competition after beating their Wembdon CC counterparts by 60 runs on Friday evening.

After choosing to bat the young Saints posted 192 for eight, of which Marcus Sapiecha made an unbeaten 42 while Bradley Fawcett and Rory Cooper-Smith both hit 25.

In reply Wembdon reached 132 for nine, with Jay Terry and Ben Mason taking three wickets each.

Meanwhile the Saints First XI came off second best when they played against WEPL Premier One table toppers Bath at North Parade on Saturday afternoon.

After being asked to bat the hosts  appeared in trouble at 46 for three before Tim Rouse made 102 and with Harry Ellison who was unbeaten on 97 helped see the hosts to 277 for five from their 50 overs.

In reply the visitors found themselves 29 for three before young Ben Mason joined Gabriel Gallman-Findlay and helped the score onto 73 before being out for 21.

Gallman-Findlay went soon after for 33 as the visitors slipped to 88 for seven before Joe Wadham came to join Will Christophers and the pair saw up thee three figures before Wadham went for 11 with the score on 115.

Christophers then added 31 with Jack Harding who made nine and 25 for the last wicket with Kazi Szymanski before being last wicket to fall for a run a ball 59 with 11  fours and a six as Saints were all out for 171 in 38.1 overs.

Saints Seconds were in action against North Perrott in the Somerset Cricket League Premier Division and batting first were all out for 154 in 37.1 overs of which opener Martin Jenkins made 34 and Jordan Clapp 42.

The visitors made light work of their target and reached 158 in 21.2 overs for the loss of one wicket that was taken by former Perrott Player Toby Pattemore.

In Division Four the Saints A played away at North Curry where after being put in made 188 all out in their 40 overs, of which Ollie Gunstone top scored with 35 while there was 25 each from Andrew Batstone and Rhys Hockey.

When Curry replied they reached 192 for one in 20.1 overs openers George Webber with 86 off 59 balls and Rupert Baverstock who was unbeaten on 86 sharing a first wicket stand of 166.

In Division Seven the Saints B XI made the short trip to play against Taunton Deane where batting first they were dismissed for 100 in 23.3 overs, of which opener Nigel Contreras made 21, while for the hosts Charlotte Berry took four wickets for 19.

Deane reached their target in 32.3 overs for the loss of three wickets, Charlotte Berry rounding off a good day by scoring 30.
