Stormers forwards coach Rito Hlungwani believes Springbok hooker Joseph Dweba will “back up” his words with a solid performance in the United Rugby Championship grand final against Munster.
Hlungwani refers to Dweba’s harsh words used in a video of the Stormers celebrating Munster’s win over Leinster that subsequently handed the side a home final.
There is respect for Munster
The assistant coach understands that Dweba is a mouthy player and expects the star to back up what he said. Hlungwani underlined that the Stormers respect Munster highly.
“Joseph is a very bubbly player, he’s got a mouth on him. But he is one guy who backs up his words. What was said is not something that was meant to go out in public and stuff like that. So it is not necessarily his fault. It is not something that we had a long chat about,” he said.
“At the end of the day, we respect Munster. They are coming here with a strong team, we respect them highly.”
Springbok duo return
The Stormers also receive a massive boost as influential Springboks duo Deon Fourie and Marvin Orie, who both missed the semi-final due to injury, will be available for selection this weekend.
“Marvin and Deon are both training, they have been training since last week,” said Hlungwani.
“They are available for selection.”
Munster also received several injury boosts, with RG Snyman, Conor Murray and Malakai Fekitoa some of the high-profile stars to return.
When asked about how the Stormers will approach Snyman’s influence, Hlungwani claimed the focus is on their game only.
“No, we will be keeping tabs on how we want to impose our game on them.”
It is all set for a fantastic final that was sold out in less than three hours, with 55,000 fans set to descend on DHL Stadium.
There is a contingent of around 5,000 Munster fans expected to make the trip to Cape Town for what should be a stunning occasion.
