Rugby Union and Rugby League in Swindon have joined forces after Swindon RFC and Swindon St George agreed to a long-term partnership.

Swindon St George, who were previously based at Nalgo Sports and Leisure Club, have reached an agreement to be able to move their entire operation to Greenbridge Road, the home of Swindon RFC, ahead of the forthcoming Rugby League season.

Club chairman Warren Huggins said: “We are moving our entire operation to Greenbridge Road for 2024 and beyond.

“This is shaping up to be the biggest year in our club’s existence and we must thank Swindon RFC for their hospitality and their willingness to co-operate with our development plans.

“We are determined to make this partnership work for both parties.”

The team will be competing in the Midlands Premier League this campaign, coming up against the likes of Birmingham, Coventry, and Nottingham, as well as local rivals Oxford, but the club are confident that with this new move, they are set up to succeed.

The move will also enable St George to field teams in the women’s, wheelchair, and masters sections, as well as being able to improve their junior operations to help develop and create enjoyment for boys and girls.
