WARRINGTON’S leading amateur rugby league sides will be looking to return to winning ways this weekend.
Woolston Rovers visit Oulton Raiders in National Conference League Division One on Saturday afternoon, looking to leave behind the 19-12 loss at Hull Dockers last time out.
They are yet to win on the road this season.
Rovers NCL head coach Liam Lawton said: “We need to put last week’s game firmly behind us and concentrate on the task in hand at Oulton.
“We had a great result against them at home on the opening day of the season but since then they have been on an excellent run and are one of the form teams in the league so we will need to be at our best to get the right result.
“We know that we are capable of competing against any team in the league but we must get more consistency in our play to enable us to get them wins in tight contests.
“We will certainly be going there to give it our best shot and hopefully we can bring the league points back home with us.”
At the same time their neighbours Crosfields head to NCL Division One table toppers Waterhead.
A late Crosfields rally proved to be in vein as they fell 22-14 at home to Oulton at the weekend.
Meanwhile, Latchford Albion’s trip to Ashton Bears has been brought forward to Friday night, kick-off 7.30pm.
Their young side remain bottom of North West Men’s League Division One after their 20-12 defeat to Blackbrook last time out.
Woolston Rovers A finally return to action when they entertain Leyland Warriors in the NWML Entry Division on Saturday, kick off 2.30pm at Monk Sports Club.
Rovers A head player/coach Craig Woolvine said: “It has been five weeks since our last game which isn’t ideal but hopefully we can get back out on the field this weekend and put in a decent performance.
“We have lads really champing at the bit to get some game time and I am confident that we will be able to get the right outcome.”
Further fixtures this Saturday including Warrington sides in the NWML are Ulverston v Burtonwood Bridge in Division One, Bank Quay Bulls v Clock Face Miners A in Division Three and Culcheth Eagles v Langworthy Reds in Division Four.
