It was a very tough weekend for Super League in terms of the weather conditions, but three games still attracted crowds more than 10,000.
The biggest crowd of the weekend came at Headingley on Friday night. 11,717 watched the Rhinos win their second game on the bounce with a 26-0 win over neighbours Wakefield.
Catalans Dragons won at the DW Stadium for the first time since 2011 on Thursday night, beating Wigan 18-10 in baltic conditions, with the Warriors announcing an attendance of 11,451.
Hull attracting strong crowds
The third came to attract a 10,000+ was crowd as at the MKM Stadium. 11,323 watched on as Hull fell to a heavy 60-14 defeat against Salford.
Hull have brought in strong crowds in their first two home games of the season, with more than 26,500 fans attending across the two games.
Hull KR didn’t announce an attendance for their game against Warrington on Friday, which ended in an 18-10 scoreline for the Wolves. When contacted by Love Rugby League for an official attendance figure, the club said they would be announcing quarterly attendance figures in 2023 rather than at each game.
There was a bit of doubt whether Huddersfield’s game against Castleford would go ahead at the John Smith’s Stadium due to the heavy snow in surrounding areas – but it was given the green light. More than 4,000 were in attendance as the Giants ran-out 36-6 winners against the Tigers.
Across the Pennines the weather was still cold, but there was never any doubt in the game going ahead at the Leigh Sports Village. A crowd of almost 8,000 watched Leigh’s 20-12 win over world champions St Helens.
A total of 46,296 supporters attended a game during Round Four. However, it must be noted that doesn’t include the attendance for Hull KR’s game against Warrington at Craven Park.
