Brighton claimed a second Women’s Super League victory of the season as they left West Ham still winless at home.

Rianna Jarrett’s classic, bustling, old-school centre-forward’s finish settled the contest on 69 minutes.

Battling to chase a hopeful punt upfield, she flicked the ball over the head of West Ham keeper Mackenzie Arnold, before determinedly beating Gilly Flaherty to nod home.

Her first goal of the season earned her side’s first win since the opening day.

Brighton could have had a quickfire second but Arnold pushed away Inessa Kaagman’s shot from a Kayleigh Green cross.

West Ham had chances too but, from the edge of the penalty area, Martha Thomas shot straight at Brighton keeper Cecilie Fiskerstrand, who had come off her line.

Fiskerstrand also saved two good, long-range efforts from Hammers substitute Kenza Dali in the second half as Brighton held out to move four points clear of their opponents in the table.
