Wigan Warriors forward Harvie Hill has joined Championship outfit Toulouse on an initial one-month loan deal.

Hill, 20, has travelled to France this week to link up with his new team-mates and could make his debut against Sheffield this weekend.

He will also be available for upcoming fixtures against London Broncos and Keighley in the second division.

A product of Wigan’s academy, Hill made his Super League debut last August against Hull KR. He has previously featured on loan at London Broncos earlier this season, making four appearances.

Duffy on Harvie Hill opportunity

Wigan’s transition coach John Duffy said: “It’s another great opportunity for Harvie to develop as a player and adapting to life in a different country, which will help him with life skills.

“With us having no reserves game for the next few weeks, it’s important that he keeps playing and that he plays in a very good team in the Championship. He’ll be looking to use it to get back into the Super League.”

Toulouse president Bernard Sarrazain added: “We would like to thank the management of Wigan for releasing Harvie.

“We have always had a good relationship with the Warriors and this loan confirms it. This pillar full of promise arrives with a view to strengthening to compensate for absences due to current injuries.

“I can’t wait to see Harvie bring all her passion to the service of the club.”

It’s the second loan move from the Warriors camp in as many days. 19-year-old hooker Tom Forber has made a short loan move to Wakefield in Super League to help cover injuries.

He has been included in their squad to face Hull KR, with Liam Hood sidelined due to concussion protocols.

Forber also made his first-team debut alongside Hill against The Robins last season.

Toulouse suffer devastating injury blow to star man

Toulouse full-back Olly Ashall-Bott is unlikely to play again this season after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

The 25-year-old was helped off the pitch in their 14-12 win over his former club Widnes on Saturday with a knee injury as he was tackled early in the first half.

It is a cruel blow to Toulouse and Ashall-Bott, who signed a four-year deal with the French side in the off-season.

Ashall-Bott posted on Instagram: “ACL (take) 2.

“Thankful for my team Toulouse Olympique who I will be supporting with all my heart.

“Also to my boy Marlo who helps me through all the tough times.”
